My Top 5 Savings Strategies

So often I hear from people who have seen me on tv or read my blog a little who want to save money but don’t quite understand how we’re doing what we do.  And so many people can’t get to the big classes or Penny-Pinching parties.  So, I decided to get it to a nutshell–here is a five minute version of what I teach in the parties and seminars.  Remember, this is only a beginning guide.  Take things slow, read and lot, and try one of the classes or my ebook.  You’ll learn a lot more of the details.  But if you’ve been confused on how this works, this should help!

  1. I’m learning so much from your blog and vlogs. Thank you for all your hard work. I’m curious about your meal plans. Do you use any special software to help you with this. I can’t imagine having my meals plans made up for a whole year. I’d love to know more about how you do this and what you use.

Are you having any classes in the Florence area any time soon?

  2. This is awesome! I am really looking forward to hearing you in person! :-)

  3. Ok Heather (sorry for all the questions) but I have a question about the pricebook. Do you put the price of the item in your pricebook BEFORE the coupon or AFTER the coupon? The pricebook is really the only thing that I am a little behind on…

  4. Great advice! I’ve used coupons for a long time, but just started stockpiling. I’m loving it! It’s so fun and exciting when I get an item for free or next to nothing.
    Thanks for sharing!

  5. LMKIA, I’m confused about the deals at Walmart. My local Walmart only prints sales flyers every 1.5 weeks. How do I know if the deals posted are available at my local store? I have taken coupons there for a special deal only to be told it wasn’t available and Customer Service could not provide me with a sales flyer. Please help.

  6. Hello,
Do you have an online class to take? I live in Toledo, Oh and would love to get in on your class.

  7. Lori, I use the same menu over and over again, each month. So I make up one for fall/winter, and use it over and over again, and then one for spring and summer. When you have it by month, the variety is good enough that you don’t get bored. But, they repeat often enough that you can still stockpile the ingredients you need!

I also bulk cook, so I’ll take 12 recipes, and make 4 meals of each over one weekend. I’ll put away 45-50 meals in one weekend (9-10 hours of cooking.) Then supplement that with deals that pop up on other recipes I’d like to try and make.

  8. Audrey, do whatever works for you. I know I mentioned in the class that I’m not as organized as I’d like to be, so sometimes I was marking down the price before coupon, but mostly it was after. Either way has its advantages. If you mark the price before coupon, then you’ll be better armed to spot good deals on it as you search the ads. But if you mark the after coupon price, then you’ll start to find the true lowest price you’ll pay.

Get together with some of the women from the class and work on a pricebook together. Since you are all in the same community, you can easily share prices and get that pricebook together faster! Plus, as you meet and share, you’ll start sharing stories and learn deals from each other!

  9. Angie, are you asking about Walmart deals? Or using other store fliers at Walmart?

Walmart deals can vary even from one side of Cincinnati to the next. So Walmart shoppers in Mason often find different prices than we do in Florence. And short of a visit to the store, there’s no way to tell what your store is doing.

For those who might have a question on getting Walmart to match sales prices, you MUST have the store flyer for the store you want them to match with you. They will not accept competitor’s coupons or match gift card deals.
